  15. In all fairness to the unnamed Pinoy General in this undated photo... the American also pictured is not an Officer. He is a US Air Force Technical Sergeant. The Technical Sergeant is wearing an old-style (BDU) uniform. While the wear of the BDU is still authorized in the USAF, most Airmen have switched to the newer ABU (Airman Battle Uniform).

It is hard to truly understand the real context of this photo since we don't have the five Ws and the one H. (Who, What, When, Where, Why, How). What if the General was going to a funeral for a fallen Philippine Soldier or Airman and he wanted to remain sharp for the family? What if this general was not really an active duty Officer, but a member of a Philippine para-military (civilian) organization that's authorized to wear military styled clothing? Is there any way we can get more details before we make a big stink about what we see in this photo?

So... why, as an American Soldier, am I defending a Philippine General? Because of the shared history of the Philippine Rangers and the American Forces during World War Two. We fought together. We bled together. We died together. Want proof? Visit the military cemetery in Taguig. Based on the shared honor and history of the American Fighting Forces and our brave brothers and sisters in the Philippine Military, I believe we should give the Philippine General in this photo the benefit of a doubt before we rush to judgment.
